Soji Adelaja: Dr. Soji Adelaja is the John A. Hannah Distinguished Professor in Land Policy and Director of the Land Policy Institute at Michigan State University. He also directs the Michigan Higher Education Land Policy (MIHELP) Consortium, a network of university researchers involved in metropolitan policy research and outreach; and he co-directs the Michigan People and Land (PAL) Initiative, focused on regional prosperity in the state of Michigan. Dr. Adelaja’s research and
outreach programs span a variety of areas, including the areas of land
use, land policy, renewable energy, metropolitan growth strategies,
place science, prosperity science, New Economy growth modeling,
political economy modeling and regional prosperity strategies in the New
Economy. He is best known for his work in land use policy, agricultural
and food policy at the urban fringe, asset-based economic development
and emerging issues in the New Economy. His international work is
focused largely on asset-based economic development strategies and
economic placemaking for prosperity.
Laura Donnet: Dr. Laura Donnet graduated from the Department of Agricultural
Department of Agricultural Economics at Michigan State University in
2007. She wrote her Ph.D. dissertation “Essays on specialty coffee
procurement” under the supervision of Dr. Dave Weatherspoon. Laura is
currently an associate professor of Agribusiness in the Business School
at Austral University in Argentina. She teaches introduction to
agribusiness and ag. marketing in the executive master program. Her
research agenda is building on coordination of specialty food products
supply chains and incorporating the topic of country strategies for
agribusiness-led-development.
Charles Moore: Mr. Charles
L. Moore is an 18-year Certified Public Accountant and is the President and
Founder of C.L. Moore & Associates, P.C., in Downtown Lansing, MI.
C.L. Moore & Associates, P.C., founded in 1991, is the only Minority
accounting firm in the Lansing area. Mr. Moore is committed to the economic
revitalization and growth of Lansing, MI. Mr. Moore, a native of Fort Wayne, Indiana,
became an Auditor in the Bank and Trust Division of the Michigan Department of Commerce.
Thereafter, Mr. Moore was appointed the Internal Auditor for the Lansing School
District. Mr. Moore is a member of the
Lansing Chamber of Commerce, Board Member of Lansing Airport Authority,
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Michigan Association of
Certified Public Accountants, former Board President of Lansing Micro
Enterprise, and former Board Treasurer of Lansing Franklin Street Housing
Co-op.
Lorraine Weatherspoon: Dr. Lorraine Weatherspoon is an Associate Professor and Didactics Program in Dietetics Director in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Michigan State University. Her primary research interests are the role of dietary, lifestyle and ecological factors in the risk,
prevention and management of diet-related health disparities and chronic
diseases. She has a special Interest in Type 2 diabetes, maternal and child
nutrition, and nutrition in HIV/AIDS.
